Week 9

So far I am liking Week 9. Either my morning sickness has subsided, or I have learned how to deal with it better (by staying off too many carbs in the morning and eating some protein). My belly is showing a little bit more - which is cute. But I also want to tell people that I am pregnant and don't just need to lose 5 pounds!! I have refused to get on the scale (why do that to myself) - and have learned to eat when I am hungry and have plenty of snacks around!! Note to any future mothers - Bella Bands are the best inventions. It allows you to still wear your regular pants - and just not button the top button. For any non-moms, it is also a good way to eat a lot during the holidays and not have to buy new pants:)

Gilbert is loving the fact that we now have junk food in the house. I used to never allow it, but I have resorted to buying Little Debbies and single-serving Pringels packs. That way when I feel the need to have something sweet/salty - I just have one of my treats. If I were to make brownies or buy a bag of potato chips, I am sure they would be devoured all at once!

My doctor gave me the book "What to Expect When You are Expecting" and I have to say that it is probably the worst and most depressing book out there. Sure it has plenty of information, but it also makes you feel like your pregnancy is a disease that needs to be treated - instead of a wonderful process that is going on in your body. It stresses so much about healthy eating and not gaining a lot of weight. Like people don't already know that?!? And to make matters worse, it puts comments in there like "75% of women who are overweight when they deliver struggle with breastfeeding". Like I need any more pressure to not gain too much weight?!? So for any of you out there that get pregnant down the road, do yourself a favor and don't buy or crack open this book. There is plenty of positive/good information out there - and this book is not it!
My energy levels have increased, which is good because I have been very behind in keeping the house clean, doing laundry, going to the grocery, etc. Hoping that this increase in energy stays around for awhile!!

Big Announcement!!!

For those of you that don't already know, I am pregnant!!!

My delay in blogging about it was because I wanted to wait until after my first doctor visit before sharing. More than anything, I wanted to make sure I was really, really pregnant. Although based on how I have been feeling, it was a pretty certain thing!!

Say hello to Baby Aguilar!

I was in the doctor's office for about 2 hours and got big list of things I can and can't do and can and can't eat. My doctor is pretty strict - no meat unless it is well done, no cheese unless at home (all cheese has to be pasteurized and you never know at restaurants what they are using), no lunch meat or hot dogs, no traveling to Mexico or high elevations (which happens to be the next two trips that we had planned!!!) and I really have to watch my exercise and have to replace any calories that I burn. And that is just the start of it!

I am at 8 weeks, which makes the due date the first week of June - although I am going to push for a May baby!! I am feeling very tired and have had an upset stomach. I have learned that I can no longer tolerate milk and that I can eat tons of bread. Big shock - I crave carbs and sweets. Why can't I crave salads or something?!?

Gilbert and I are both very excited about being parents and I am going to try super hard to follow all the rules set out for me:)

10-Year High School Reunion

This past weekend Gilbert and I went to Indiana for my 10-year reunion. It is always wonderful to make a trip "back home" and I was glad I went to my reunion - although it was an eye-opening experience at how much people don't change!

We arrived Saturday afternoon and went directly to Harvest Homecoming for some lunch. Harvest Homecoming is my hometown's big festival - they have lots of booths and tons of great food. My sister and I had some trouble finding the Gyro booth - as they have moved it from years past. Although I haven't been in probably 6 years - so who knows when it actually changed locations!!! It was just as delicious as ever!!! I then tried to find the Floyd County Youth Symphony booth to get a brownie with hot fudge and ice cream. My parents, sister and I used to work this booth together for I don't know how many years!!! But, this year I couldn't find it. So Gilbert and I settled for one of Amy and Cory's finds - homemade donuts!!

That evening the reunion was held at Culbertson West - a great location. It was really good to see and spend time with 2 of my closest girl friends from high school as well as some of the guys that I was friends with. I won the award for the furthest distance traveled - whoo hoo.
The rest of the time spent in Indiana was family time and relax time. It is always good to be home!!

Tarrah and Max's Wedding

On Saturday evening Gilbert and I went to Zilker Clubhouse for Tarrah and Max's wedding. I had never been to Zilker Clubhouse - and it is an amazing outdoor location. There are beautiful views of downtown and the indoor area has a great rustic feel. Here are some pictures from the evening.

The happy couple!
